Focusing on Digital Photography
29 Apr
Since some of my shots from my trip to Formby Point turned out well, I thought I’d take one to get printed to see how it would look on paper.
I decided to get this one printed at 10″ x 8″ at the local ASDA store.
Costing just £1 and taking only an hour to process, the photo printed out quite well although it was slightly cropped on either side. I don’t know why I thought it was going to fit since the resolution of the image was 3223 x 2149 which is a 3:2 just like 12″ x 8″ is! At least I’ll know for next time.
As the first print from my new kit, I’m quite happy with the quality and will start looking through the other shots I’ve taken to see if there are others I’d like to get printed, perhaps even framed.
I predict that friends and family are going to be receiving lots of photo prints for Christmas and birthdays!

It’s great to see your photos in print. I’ve printed a few of mine off onto 6×4 photo card (I’ve got stacks of it come free with ink cartridges and printers!) and gave them to my grandparents, who’ll never see my Flickr account let alone my photos on it! My parents also has an A4 of one of my photos hanging up at home which is quite cool
We have our own prints (6×4s again) in some photo frames in our lounge. Again, it’s nice to have your own photos up!
Have you used any third-party printers? A friend of mine recommended photobox.co.uk, but I haven’t tried them yet.
I think the photobooks look great. We got something similar for our wedding album (photos go right to the edge of the page - magazine style) and it looks the business.
Dave’s used Photobox and those photos came out just as good as any film developers. Photobox does work out the cheapest and that’s what everyone recommends. Let me know if you’re going to sign up as I think if you sign up through Dave he can get some more photos for free (plus postage costs).
Sure thing. If you email the referral info to me then I’ll use it when I sign up.
Invite on its way. 30 free prints included which I believe goes on top of the 40 free prints you get anyway
I just signed up with Photobox and have been given 80 free prints!
